Cales de Llierca is the leading producer of coated and uncoated Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC.)
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is the most complex product out of all of the products we produce: it requires specially controlled applications and is well known within the different parameters involved in the precipitation reaction and subsequent treatments.
By modifying the above parameters, we select with great precision the distinct features of our CALPREC® branded Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) making it specific to every application.
The great advantage of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) compared to Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) is the possibility to synthesise particles in a specific crystalline form and much smaller, and in turn, granulometric distributions much more tight and defined.
These distinguishing features are very close related with physical properties which formulation confers to each specific product. For example, the special microstructure and granulometric distribution of CALPREC PA® provides opacity and whiteness, significant features in certain application as paint or paper. Otherwise, CALPREC PR® has a determining and key particle type for rheological behaviour of sealants.
On comparing Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) with Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC), PCC differs due to its ability to:
Additionally, the big advantage of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is that it offers the possibility of forming different crystalline, resulting in physical properties adapting to specific application. For example, the opacity and whiteness of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) are important features in certain applications (paint and paper), while in others rheological behaviour is essential (sealants.) Therefore, the different types of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) due to their particular use in each sector are specified in close collaboration with our customers.
Calcinor offers two main types of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC):
