| Soil in chicken farms is always covered with straw mixed with the remains of chicken feed and their excretions. This mixture tends to be moist and is a breeding ground for bad smells and chicken parasites, propagating diseases such as coccidiosis very easily.
Chicken farmers are familiar with the benefits that SLAKED LIME produces when mixed with this waste.
SLAKED LIME reduces bacterial action, acting as a sterilising agent and leaving the ground cover loose, thus allowing air to circulate and moistness to evaporate. By adding this product, bad smells and diseases are eliminated, dramatically reducing the number of times the ground cover needs to be removed and representing a considerable reduction in workload.
Waste treated with SLAKED LIME generates an excellent fertilizer known as poultry manure. It is generally applied to crop fields, adding phosphorous, nitrogen, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulphur and organic material.
The chicken-house will be cleaner and more hygienic if the walls, ceilings and other areas of the enclosure are lime-washed with milk of lime.
We recommend this simple formula: 2 kg of slaked lime + ½ kg of common salt + 3 litres water. With the 4 litres of mixture obtained, you can cover approximately 20 m2 of wall. Leave to dry and you’ll be amazed at the results. |
