Desalinators

The use of desalination technologies has developed considerably across the world in the last few years in view of the scarcity of fresh water. The water generated in treatment plants by the desalination of seawater requires post-treatment to improve both its flavour and, most importantly, its chemical quality. In this phase of water treatment in desalination plants it is necessary to use lime as a post-treatment reagent, supplied in the form of calcium hydroxide to make milk of lime. The addition of lime allows desalinated water to be conditioned, which can range from adjusting the pH and reducing its aggressiveness (calco-carbonic disequilibrium) to remineralizing water by adding calcium.
