Iron and steel industry

For this sector of application, CALCINOR mainly supplies quicklime, calcined dolomite and sintered dolomite. Since 2001, CALCINOR has diversified its product range thanks to the incorporation of Refractarios Kelsen, offering basic and non-basic refractory products for use in both oxygen steelworks and electrical steelworks in both flow versions (alternate or continuous).

- Quicklime is added to converters (AOD) and electrical arc furnaces (EAF) as a flux agent and scorifier of the impurities that can have an adverse effect on the quality of the metal. To achieve optimum performance and results in these processes, CALCINOR supplies high-purity, highly reactive quicklime, controlling sulphur and phosphorous content if required by the application in question.

- Calcined dolomite is used to improve scorification and extend the useful life of refractory cladding in kilns and ladles.

- Sintered dolomite has a double use. In the first place, it is used as a raw material in the manufacture of basic refractory bricks with high density and low flux content. Secondly, it is used to increase the useful life of the refractory linings of kilns.

- In the case of operating ladle kilns to carry out the refining process, the use of controlled mixtures of quicklime and calcined dolomite has grown. To respond to this demand, CALCINOR has created Dolocal®, a product that combines the advantages of both raw materials and allows for a substantial reduction in the wear and tear action of the slagging agent on the ladle, thus extending its useful life.
