For this industry sector, CALCINOR provides both raw products (limestone and dolomite) and calcined lime products (quicklime and slaked lime).
- In the production of copper, zinc, lead, silver, nickel, gold, uranium, etc., quicklime is used, firstly to separate impurities by flotation of the different metal salts and secondly as a pH regulator of the water used throughout the manufacturing process.
- In the production of magnesium, two types of manufacturing processes can be used: the electrolytic process or the reduction process. In the former, slaked lime is used while in the reduction process it is preferable to use quicklime.
- In the production of aluminium, quicklime is used and acts as a slagging agent of silica, preventing the formation of aluminium and silicon compounds.
