Part of the extracted rock, selected because of its chemical composition and gradation, is calcinated at around 1,000 °C in different types of kilns, fed by a variety of fuels such as natural gas, coal, fuel, etc. The CO2 of the stone is given off to produce quicklime, either calcium (CaO) or dolomitic (CaO.MgO). The resulting lime grains are sifted, crushed or ground and stored in accordance with the characteristics requested by the
client.
Calcinor is investigating the posible ose of alternative fuels
to reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.
