Calcinor takes part in the creation of a pioneering CO₂ hub in the Basque Country to drive industrial decarbonization
The Basque Country is advancing the development of a CO₂ hub that brings together leading industrial and energy companies to jointly develop solutions for sustainable management. In this context, Calcinor is part of this initiative alongside Enagás, the Basque Government through EVE, Petronor, Heidelberg Materials, Terresis and Nortegas.
The project aims to establish a complete CO₂ value chain, covering everything from capture at source to transport, storage and potential reuse. This integrated approach addresses one of the main challenges facing industry today: reducing emissions in hard-to-abate processes while ensuring technical and economic viability.
This hub represents a significant milestone in how industrial decarbonisation is approached, bringing together industrial capabilities, technical expertise and energy infrastructure within a single ecosystem. The collaboration between leading companies lays the foundation for an innovative model capable of delivering real, scalable solutions to a structural challenge.
For Calcinor, this initiative aligns with a long-standing sustainability strategy focused on energy efficiency, circular economy and the development of carbon capture and management solutions. Active participation in projects like this reinforces its commitment to a robust and competitive industrial transition.
The creation of this hub opens new opportunities to accelerate the deployment of industrial solutions that require a shared vision and coordinated execution. Collaboration across sectors is key to advancing more efficiently towards climate goals.
In a context where decarbonisation demands structural responses and strong industrial cooperation, Calcinor reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that drive meaningful transformation, contributing to a more resilient, sustainable, innovative and future-ready industry.
