MINING INDUSTRY

The separation and concentration of metal content in ore, is a complex process.

For a correct concentration of desired metal, it is necessary to maintain an alkaline solution containing ore, with a correct acidic pH of the water derived from said mineralogical processes.

For a correct concentration of the desired metal it is necessary to maintain an alkaline solution containing the ore, and correct the acidity of the solution created in the mineralogical processes mentioned above.

Mineral deposits are distributed according to the different geological processes in a non-uniform way, all around the planet and the Earth`s crust. The concentration in the ore determines the viability of the deposit. The minimum concentration necessary depends on the metal contained and the metal chosen for extraction, this limit is lower the more valuable the metal is.

The separation and concentration of the metal in the ore, requires a complex process that can be summarised in three steps:

  • Grinding and milling of the mineral.
  • Concentration
  • Separation of liquid/solid.

For the concentration, various techniques can be used:

  • Hydrometallurgical processes.
  • Pyrometallurgical processes.

Calcinor products carry out a decisive role in the above-mentioned productive processes. Lime is used in the production of copper, molybdenum, zinc and lead. It is also used in the separation of gold, silver and nickel as well as in the refining of metals such as magnesium, calcium and mercury.

CALCIUM OXIDE

Calcium oxide acts in the flotation process, controlling the pH of the system and as a precipitant. It is used together with other agents such as: foams, activators and precipitants.

CALCIUM HYDROXIDE

This acts as a pH regulator in the water generated in the process before it is discharged into rivers, at the same time it allows the separation of metals contained in this water for reuse.
