Occupational Health and Safety Technical Seminars: Sharing Knowledge to Keep Moving Forward Together
Last September, Calcinor’s Occupational Health and Safety Technical Seminars took place in Madrid, bringing together Calcinor’s occupational health and safety professionals with a common goal: to share experiences, technical knowledge and ways of working so that we can continue making progress in health and safety.
The two seminars were different but complementary, combining collaborative work, the exchange of experiences, a visit to one of our facilities and technical training tailored to the real needs of our industrial environment.
Sharing to move forward
The first day focused on working together and discussing the main initiatives currently under way, as well as upcoming occupational health and safety challenges.
It was a highly interactive session in which participants shared experiences, real-life situations, challenges and best practices from across the Group’s different sites and operations. Rather than simply communicating guidelines or plans of action, the aim was to encourage discussion, compare different approaches to similar situations and draw on the knowledge already available within the team.
The day concluded with a visit to the Perales de Tajuña quarry (Calcasa), where the local team showed participants around the facilities and shared their experience, providing first-hand insight into the site’s particular characteristics.
Technical training tailored to our operations
The second day was dedicated to technical training delivered by FEGEMU SOLUTIONS. Topics included machinery safety, Spanish Royal Decree 1215/1997, technical documentation and maintenance. These were addressed from a practical perspective, with a focus on the equipment and situations found at our facilities.
The session offered an opportunity to explore technical issues in greater depth, clarify questions and once again compare approaches and experiences among Calcinor’s occupational health and safety professionals.
A team that shares knowledge
These seminars highlight the importance of creating opportunities for occupational health and safety professionals to take time to share ideas, learn from one another and work towards a common vision.
Prevention is also built on shared knowledge and our ability to learn from experiences at our own sites. One of the aims of these meetings is therefore to strengthen coordination and collaboration between occupational health and safety teams, working towards increasingly consistent approaches and shared tools while recognising the specific characteristics of each activity.
Calcinor continues to work towards making health and safety a shared commitment and embedding a stronger culture of prevention into everyday operations.
Because sharing knowledge is also a way to prevent risks.
